First Strike Ability: The First Strike ability demonstrates the spear wielder’s mastery of reach and precision, enabling them to intercept an incoming melee attack with a preemptive strike. This ability is perfect for defensive or strategic spear fighters, as it allows them to take advantage of their weapon’s range and potentially prevent an enemy’s attack altogether.
First Strike: When the spear wielder is attacked by a melee attack, they may use their Reaction and expend 50 Stamina to activate First Strike. This ability allows them to make a spear attack against the attacker before the triggering attack occurs. The First Strike suffers a -25 penalty to its Accuracy Check but gains a +1 bonus per rank in this subskill.
If the First Strike results in the triggering attack becoming illegal—such as by killing, stunning, or pushing the attacker—then the triggering attack is considered an automatic miss.
First Strike rewards tactical positioning and skill, giving spear wielders a decisive edge in combat. By interrupting an enemy’s attack, they can disrupt the flow of battle and assert dominance on the field.
These bonuses are not automatically added to the Roll20 Character Sheet, and must be added manually.
