There are many forms across the planes…
Allow this guide to further help you blend in.

This is a list of current 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons races compiled from various sources, and how they could fit into the Red Venom Plains. This is just a guide, not a set of rules. If you want your Aarakocra to be a Sand Elf that can somehow fly, you can figure out to do it with a creative story.

Aarakocra: These avians are often considered to be Beastkin, as while there are societies of Avian humanoids in the Red Venom Plains, they are extremely rare and rarely interact with society.

Aasimar: There are a few races in the Red Venom plains that have lineages which are tied to the Courts of Light or Darkness; they are known as Tyche, and often disguise themselves as it is said they are descendants of the forgotten gods. Solas Tyche descend from the Court of Light, and are similar in appearance and description to Aasimar.

Autognome: Autognomes are rarely considered to be fully sentient, as many will just consider them a creation of a wizard, or a malfunctioning construct. Very few will accept that there is a race of animated Gnomes wandering in space.

Avariel: An Avarial is simply seen as an Elf with Wings. They can choose the appearance of any other Elf race, or possible Sprite, with a blessing of wings.

Bugbear: While Bugbears have been seen as a threat to many cities, the Apathetic Plague forced many tribes to submit to city assimilation, and while rare, bugbears do exist in most cities of the Red Venom Plains.

Centaur: While many Centaur societies exist in the Red Venom Plains, they are generally not accepted as full members of society because of their abnormal size. A Chaos Seed centaur would be as foreign to most as any Centaur.

Changeling: While there is no racial equivalent of Changelings (or Dopplegangers) in the Red Venom Plains, there are races that can alter their appearances, and individuals with personal abilities to do so as well. As a changeling, you’ll likely want to choose a local lineage and base your appearance off it.

Custom Lineage: As there is a huge mix of racial characteristics in the Red Venom Plains, making a custom lineage fits perfectly with its narrative.

Dhampir Lineage: Similar to any core world, a Dhampir is a modification of any race, so it can be adapted to any local lineage you choose. There is a race of “Living Vampires” in The Land, but these would not be Dhampirs.

Dragonborn: Most draconic humanoids are associated with the Drakarth, a race of lizardmen with elemental bloodlines; they are native to the desert wastes of Umbaroth.

Dwarf, Duergar: Derro, Duergar, or Deep Dwarves, as they are known across the cosmos, have no equivalent society in the Red Venom Plains. They mostly resemble dark skinned Mountain Dwarves, but their abilities resemble Athgaurain Dwarves.

Dwarf, Hill or Mountain: There are many types of Dwarves in the Red Venom Plains, and your character may choose to look like any of them, or your own type.

Eladrin: Eldarin are seen as Fey-Touched High Elves, as they have a similar build to High Elves, but their eyes and seasons are not typical to most High Elves.

Elf, Astral: Astral Elves can appear as any local Elf lineage. A common belief is that Astral Elves were ‘Blessed by the Moon’, given powers different from their Elven cousins, and with alternate skin colors. Astral Elves can also be mistaken for Wyncast Elves.

Elf, Drow: There is no equivalent society of Drow Elves in the Red Venom Plains, so they are simply dark skinned Elves with improved vision in dark places. Wyncast Elves are the most common equivalent in physical description, but their society is rather different.

Elf, High or Wood: Similar to Dwarves, there are many types of Elves in the Red Venom Plains, and your character may choose to look like any of them, or your own type.

Fairy: There are no Faeries in The Red Venom Plains, and haven’t been for many centuries. Additionally Faeries in the Red Venom Plains were between 6 and 12 inches tall, far too small to be a D&D character. Fairy PCs might be considered to be Sprites or Forest Gnomes with wings.

Firbolg: There are no race of Firbolgs in the Red Venom Plains, but there are lineages related to both Fey and Giants that can be added to any local race to create something similar to a Firbolg.

Genasi: Any race can be ‘Elemental Touched’, as it is commonly called in the Red Venom Plains. Elemental Dwarves live in Kazadaega, while Sand Elves with ‘wind powers’ dwell in many deserts.

Giff: Giffs fall into the realm of Beastling, as there are no Giff societies in the Red Venom Plains.

Gith/Githyanki/Githzerai: All three of these races might be mistaken for mutated or abnormal versions of a local race, such as an Elf or Human. Depending on their appearance, you may choose to play them as either, or as a Beastling version of them.

Gnome, Deep: Svirfneblin, or Deep Gnomes, do not have an equivalent Gnomish equivalent in the Red Venom Plains. They would simply be a local Gnome, such as Arcane, that is better adapted to underground than most.

Gnome, Rock or Forest: Gnomes here are as varied as they are in any other world, and most Gnomes have individual appearances. Rock Gnomes would likely be considered a common Gnome, while Forest Gnomes fall towards Wood Gnomes.

Goblin: Goblins are generally considered a threat to most kingdoms as a race, but many individual Goblins have adapted to life in cities, and are considered valued members of society.

Goliath: Goliaths are generally considered to be very large Humans, Beastlings, or those with Giant Blood in their veins.

Hadozee: These simian humanoids fall squarely within the realm of Beastling, as there is no equivalent to a Hadozee in the Red Venom Plains.

Half-Elf/Half-Orc: A Half-Elf or Half-Orc can be a mix of any race with Elf or Orc, and is not restricted to Human. While they are the same statistical bonuses, you may choose appearance characteristics of any race with them.

Halfling, Ghostwise: Ghostwise Halflings can likely be played as any Halfling, but easily fit within Nomad Halfling society, as their powers are not standard for a Halfling.

Halfling, Lightfoot or Stout: Either of the two basic Halflings fit Coin or Quickmount Halflings, based on their builds and attitudes.

Harengon: This race falls under the Beastling descriptor, as there is no similar race in the Red Venom Plains, and they would be rare.

Hexblood Lineage: Similar to any core world, a Hexblade is a modification of any race, so it can be adapted to any local lineage you choose.

Hobgoblin: Similar to Goblins, Hobgoblins are generally accepted in most cities as a race, but individual Hobgoblins can prove their value to a society in ways similar to any other.

Human: As with any world, the great variations in Humanity makes them impossible to classify. They are as varied in the Red Venom Plains as they are anywhere else. There are several local variations, but all of these can be defined under the Variant Human rules.

Kalashtar: Kalashtar can appear as any other race, simply gifted with the power of dreams. There is no society similar to them in the Red Venom Plains.

Kenku: Similar to Aaracoka, these avians are often considered to be Beastkin, as while there are societies of Avian humanoids in the Red Venom Plains, they are extremely rare and rarely interact with society.

Kobold: Unlike Goblins, Kolbolds are seen as vermin instead of threats to most communities. It is not uncommon to find Kolbolds employed as lower class hirelings across most civilized lands. However, societies of Kolbolds do exist, and a Kolbold Warband is an instant threat for a city.

Leonin: There are no races equivalent to a Leonin in the Red Venom Plains, so Leonin would fall under the umbrella of Beastling.

Lizardfolk: There are many lizardfolk across the Red Venom Plains, and most societies are neutral towards them. There are many variations in their scale color and appearance, as their evolution mirrors their environment.

Loxodon: There are no races equivalent to Loxodon in the Red Venom Plains, so Loxodon would fall under the umbrella of Beastling.

Minotaur: Minotaurs are associated with the broader race of Virsmen, a tribal equine race that controls much of the areas central to the Red Venom Plains. Minotaurs are either considered noble or savage in the Red Venom Plains, depending on the local Virsmen’s actions.

Orc: Orcs are very common in the Red Venom Plains, but have a mixed relationship with many areas. In some cities, such as Elswear, they are equal to any race in stature and reputation; yet the Elves of Far’Telor consider them to be a bane of civilization. An Orc would be tolerable in any city, and are not far from their core descitpion.

Owlin: Similar to Aaracoka, these avians are often considered to be Beastkin, as while there are societies of Avian humanoids in the Red Venom Plains, they are extremely rare and rarely interact with society.

Plasmoid: Plasmoids will be viewed in most places with a combination of fascination and suspicion, as no such creature exists in legend or community in the Red Venom Plains. However, in a land filled with mysterious powers, an odd creatures are still accepted.

Reborn Lineage: Similar to any core world, a Reborn is a modification of any race, so it can be adapted to any local lineage you choose.

Satyr: Where there are extremely few Satyrs in the Red Venom Plains, they do exist, and are known to wander from their hidden colonies near Far’Telor.

Sea Elf: There are actually many types of Sea Elves, as most are simply considered other types of Elves (such as Wood Elves) that adapted to aquatic life. There are several smaller colonies of Sea Elves in the Red Venom Plains, but they can be found anywhere near water.

Shadar-Kai: Depending on their appearance, Sharar-Kai might be confused for many races. A Shadar-Kai can choose to blend into Human, Elven, Tyche, Beastkin, or other racial societies, if they choose to have their character appear as such. Based on their appearance, many may consider them cursed.

Shifter: A Shifter is very similar to a Beastling, as it shares many beastial characteristics. While there is no specific Shifter society in the Red Venom Plains, Beastlings can be found in every society.

Simic Hybrid: While their origin is different from Beastlings, a Simic shares most of the characteristics of a Beastling, and fits well under its description.

Tabaxi: An elusive race of feline humanoids exists in many parts of the Red Venom Plains; known as Felixians, they generally disdain cities and prefer more natural environments. There have been both wanderers and outcasts that have taken refuge among other races, however.

Thri-Kreen: The most notable race of Insectoids is the Irizari, a race of psionic bipedal insects that live in the mountains north of Kazadaegha. While Thri-Kreen do not fit their description, most in the Red Venom Plains will assume they are an Irizari.

Tiefling: There are a few races in the Red Venom plains that have lineages which are tied to the Courts of Light or Darkness; they are known as Tyche, and often disguise themselves as it is said they are descendants of the forgotten gods. Demos Tyche descend from the Court of Darkness and are similar in appearance and description to Tieflings. Horns and tails are often common on Beastlings.

Tortle: Tortles will fall under the umbrella of Beastling, as there is no comparable race of turtle humanoids in the Red Venom Plains.

Triton: Both Merfolk and Sea Elves exist in the Red Venom Plains, and Tritons can be easily associated with either.

Vedalken: Vedalken are similar too, but not quite the same as the Astra Tyche. However, a Veldaken can also be a blessed Elf, or any other race that has replaced its racial characteristics with a need to improve itself.

Verdan: Verdan are still seen as Goblins within the Red Venom Plains, but their attunement to nature makes them stand out from a standard Goblin, so most will accept them without the standard racial prejudices Goblins endure. A Verdan can also be played as a Wood Sprite.

Warforged: Much like Autognomes, Warforged are rarely considered to be fully sentient, as many will just consider them a creation of a wizard, or a malfunctioning construct. Very few will accept that there is a race of animated humanoids with individual souls.

Yuan-Ti: Depending on their stature, a Yuan-Ti can be seen as a Drakarth, Lizardfolk, Beastling, or any other race with serpent features. There are several other races that have similar appearances to Yuan-Ti that are not playable at this time.
