The Piercing Bolt ability allows the crossbowman to focus their shot on bypassing the target’s physical defenses and targeting their ability to dodge instead. This maneuver is ideal for engaging nimble foes or those with high armor, allowing the crossbowman to shift their approach and increase the chance of landing a successful hit.
Piercing Bolt Ability: As a Bonus Action, the crossbowman may choose to target their opponent’s Dodge Value instead of their Armor Value on the next attack. This costs 30 Stamina and 30 Mana. Additionally, the crossbowman gains a bonus to the Accuracy Check equal to their ranks in Piercing Bolt, making it easier to land the shot.
Piercing Bolt is especially effective against enemies who rely heavily on agility or evasion, allowing the crossbowman to exploit openings and deal damage where traditional attacks might fail. By focusing on a target’s ability to avoid attacks rather than its physical protection, the crossbowman can turn the tide of battle, creating opportunities for high-damage strikes even against foes who otherwise seem invulnerable.
These bonuses are not automatically added to the Roll20 Character Sheet, and must be added manually.
