Shadow Essence

This small crystal is a form of Shadow magic condensed into a physical form. It seems to drain light from around it, and easily detects as both Undead and Dark Magic. It generally comes from the remnants of a shadow creature; either when they are destroyed, or where they lie dormant for a lengthy period of time, waiting for their next victim.

• If used in a Dark Magic related Alchemical Consumable with a duration that effects darkness (Such as a potion of Darkvision), its duration is doubled.
• If used in the crafting of a magical item that creates a field of Darkness, such as an Orb of Shadows, the effect’s range is increased by 10%, rounded up to the nearest 5 feet. In the case of the Orb of Shadows, which has a 30 foot range, the range would be come 35 feet (3′ rounded up to 5′).
• If used when forging Armor, the armor gains 1 point of damage reduction to Radiant damage. Damage reduction is applied to damage of that type, before resistance.
• If used when making a weapon, the weapon is enchanted with the Dense Shadow Enchantment. This weapon has advantage when attacking shadow creatures, and ignores the damage reductions of Insubstantial creatures, including resistance.
