Animal Empathy is a Common skill, and is modified by your Charisma.

In tune with the instincts and emotions of animals, the Animal Empathy skill highlights your character’s exceptional ability to communicate and bond with creatures of the natural world. This skill is used for checks related to calming frightened animals, gaining their trust, and intuitively understanding their needs. Additionally, it grants a bonus when dealing with both ordinary Animals and dangerous Beasts, reflecting your insight into their motivations and behavior.

As your skill in Animal Empathy advances, you will gain additional benefits from it.

Initiate (Ranks 10-19):
At this rank, your expertise extends beyond basic interactions. You can apply your ranks in Animal Empathy to any other skill directly involving Animals, Beasts, or Monstrosities, such as Stealth or Tracking. Additionally, when making an Animal Empathy check to calm or intimidate an Animal, you roll twice and use the better result.

Apprentice (Ranks 20-34):
As an Apprentice, Animals and Beasts will not attack you unless provoked. If given a choice, they will avoid targeting you, selecting another target if possible. Any Animal or Beast that does attack you suffers a penalty to its attack rolls equal to your ranks in Animal Empathy. This effect does not extend to Monstrosities.

Journeyman (Ranks 35-59):
At the Journeyman level, you gain the innate ability to communicate with Animals, Beasts, and Monstrosities. While most Animals can only convey vague or general information based on their Intelligence, even this limited insight can prove invaluable. Additionally, when casting a Compulsion spell on an Animal or Beast, you gain a bonus to the Accuracy Check equal to half your ranks in Animal Empathy.

Adept (Ranks 60-79):
At this level, your defensive and Compulsion-related bonuses now extend to Monstrosities. Furthermore, your deeper understanding of creatures grants you an Accuracy bonus on attacks against Animals, Beasts, and Monstrosities equal to half your ranks in this skill.

Master (Ranks 80-99):
As a Master, your connection with the animal kingdom becomes unparalleled. Natural Animals perceive you as a trusted ally and will not attack you unless controlled by a hostile force. Your heightened instincts grant a bonus to Movement Speed, Combat Speed, and Perception equal to 1/10th of your ranks in Animal Empathy, as your body and senses reflect an extraordinary bond with nature.

All of these bonuses are cumulative.
