Perception is a Common skill, and is modified by your Wisdom.
Perception represents a character’s ability to notice, detect, and interpret their surroundings with heightened awareness. This skill enables characters to spot hidden dangers, uncover subtle details, and stay vigilant in both familiar and unfamiliar environments. Whether scanning the horizon for an approaching enemy, noticing the faint glint of a trap trigger, or catching a whispered conversation in a crowded room, Perception ensures that no detail escapes the character’s attention.
It is a vital skill for survival, exploration, and investigation, giving adventurers an edge when the unexpected strikes. Perception is used in a variety of scenarios, from uncovering concealed objects and identifying ambushes to tracking movements in dimly lit areas or following faint trails through dense forests. In The Land, where danger often lurks in the shadows and the smallest clue can change the course of an adventure, Perception is an invaluable skill for those who want to stay one step ahead of the unknown.
As your skill in Perception grows, you will gain additional benefits from it.
Increased Affinity: When you first attain a new title in Perception (Initiate or Apprentice), you gain a 25% Affinity increase in either the Listening or Perception Skills. You can gain this affinity even if you did not have a previous Affinity Bonus or Ranks in the chosen skill.
Initiate (Ranks 10-19):
Pinpoint Vision: Once per game, when you or an ally that can hear you makes Perception check and dislikes the result, you can instead roll another Perception check and substitute the new roll for the previous one.
Apprentice (Ranks 20-34):
See the Unseen: If you have a special type of vision, such as Darkvision or Blindsight, its range is increased by 50%. If you don’t have Blindsight, you now have it to 5 feet (covering the squares adjacent to you).
All of these bonuses are cumulative.
