Folklore

Folklore is a subskill of Agriculture, reflecting a character’s specialized knowledge of fey and fairy societies, their customs, and their connection to the natural world. This subskill allows characters to understand how these mystical beings influence crops, seasons, and rural life, as well as to recognize signs of their presence and activity. Each rank in Folklore grants a +1 bonus to Agriculture checks related to fey interactions, such as negotiating with fairy courtiers to bless a harvest, identifying plants touched by fey magic, or mitigating curses or blights caused by their mischief.

As Folklore ranks increase, characters gain additional resilience against the charms and enchantments of fey creatures, reflecting their growing understanding of fey tactics and lore. This makes Folklore not only a tool for dealing with agricultural challenges but also a valuable asset in social or combat scenarios involving fey. Mastering Folklore immerses players in the mystical side of The Land, weaving fey lore into everyday tasks and adding depth to encounters with these enigmatic beings. • At 10 Ranks in Folklore, you know more about the Fey than most. You gain the Fey Lore ability, which gives you a bonus to any Knowledge or Lore check you make related to Fey equal to your ranks in Folklore.
• At 20 Ranks in Folklore you understand the mind tricks played by Fey. You gain the Fey Resist ability, which gives you a bonus to your Mental Defense equal to your ranks in Folklore when attacked with Compulsion or Fear attacks made by Fey creatures against you.
• At 30 Ranks in Folklore you know Fey well enough to understand their weaknesses. You gain the Fey Hunter ability, which gives you a bonus to damage rolls against Fey creatures equal to 1/10th of your ranks in Folklore (Rounded Down).
